Our school has a long tradition of helping the students at our sister school, Thunderbird Elementary.  In the past, we have held clothing drives, backpack drives, and donated items for their Christmas Shop.  Our biggest drive has always been for the Christmas Hampers.  Traditionally, each student was assigned a few non-perishable items to bring in, money was collected for grocery gift cards and a team of parents would put together large hampers that were driven over to the Thunderbird community and hand delivered to the homes of eight Thunderbird families in need (as identified by the community worker).

Due to COVID, we are finding it difficult to continue with the help we have given in the past, yet, for many of these families, the need is greater than ever before.  We have, however, thought of a way to at least provide help to these 8 families.

We are hoping that our Kitchener families will instead consider making online donations through School Cash Online to be put toward grocery store gift cards for these eight families.   Small baskets will be made up with a few holiday goodies and gift cards for Superstore so that they can buy fresh food/clothes or gifts for their families.  The baskets will be delivered directly to the school so that each family can pick it up themselves.
